What you will be able to do

  1. 1Identify the main hazards in everyday nursery routines and spaces.
  2. 2Apply the practical steps that keep children and staff safe.
  3. 3Know what to record and who to tell when something goes wrong.

Two editions, written separately

England and Scotland have different regulators, frameworks and ways of reporting, so each nation has its own edition, not one course with a footnote. Both are kept up to date with the latest guidance.

CPD hours on every course

Each course shows its CPD hours, and they go straight onto each person's training record, ready for supervision and inspection.

Made by the early years community

Written and checked by people who run, support and inspect nurseries every day: area and regional managers, early years consultants, and Ofsted and Care Inspectorate inspectors.

Real nurseries, real inspections

Scenarios and case studies from real rooms, and lessons from what really came up after inspections. Practical steps your team can use the same day, not jargon.

Made to suit every learner

Shaped by psychology and teaching experts, with short videos, reading, flashcards, interactive activities and scenarios, so it works for every way people learn.

Questions

Does this replace the practical paediatric first aid qualification?+

No. Regulators require named first aiders to hold the practical qualification, which needs a trainer and a mannequin. This online course is the awareness training that keeps everyone else current, and a refresher between practical days.

Who writes the courses?+

Real early years professionals: area managers, regional managers, early years consultants, and Ofsted and Care Inspectorate inspectors. Psychology and teaching experts on the team then shape how each course is taught, so it suits the people taking it.

What makes these courses different?+

They are practical. Every course is built around what practitioners can use in their rooms the next day, not jargon. Many include real scenarios from nurseries, real case studies, and what really came up after inspections.

How is the course taught, so it suits every learner?+

In short modules that mix videos, reading, flashcards, interactive activities and scenarios, so it works whether someone learns best by watching, reading or doing. Progress saves at the end of each module, on a phone, tablet or computer.

Is it up to date with the latest guidance?+

Yes. The England edition follows the current EYFS and what Ofsted looks for; the Scotland edition follows the Health and Social Care Standards and the Care Inspectorate's quality framework. Courses are updated when guidance changes.

What is the pass mark?+

80%. Someone who falls short sees which questions they got wrong, goes over the module again and tries again. There is no limit and no charge.

Does the certificate show CPD hours, and can an inspector check it?+

Yes to both. The certificate shows the course's CPD hours and has its own number and QR code: scan it with a phone and the certificate's own page shows it is real.

Which edition should we choose?+

The nation your nursery is registered in. Each edition is written separately for its regulator; the modules cover the same ground and the certificate is the same. You confirm the edition before you start and can change it later from your nursery settings.

Can I buy this course on its own?+

Courses are not sold one at a time. This one comes with Hubba Premium, the all-in-one package, with unlimited staff places for one nursery site. Premium has a 30-day free trial with no card needed, and as one of the 10 core courses it is on Essential too, from £14.99 a month.
