Privacy and cookies
What Hubba Inspections collects about you, what it keeps and for how long, and how to ask for a copy or have it deleted. Updated 17 October 2026.
- We never sell what we know about you, and there is no advertising.
- We do not use Google Analytics or any other company's tracking.
- The reports themselves are Ofsted's and the Care Inspectorate's, published for everybody.
- You can ask for a copy of what we hold about you, or for it to be deleted, at info@hubbatraining.com.
Who we are
Hubba Inspections is run by Hubba Training Limited, trading as Hubba Training. We decide what is collected and why, so the law calls us the controller of it.
For anything on this page, email info@hubbatraining.com. A person at Hubba will answer.
What we collect
If you use Hubba Inspections without an account
You get some free minutes before we ask you to make a free account. To count them fairly, and to tell one visitor from another, we keep:
- only if you say yes to the free-minutes counter, a random number for your browser (the hubba_gid cookie below);
- the address your connection comes from, and the rough place worked out from it: country, region and town;
- your kind of device (phone, tablet or computer), your browser and its system, and the first 400 letters of what your browser calls itself;
- only if you say yes to the free-minutes counter, a fingerprint made from plain facts about your browser: screen size, pixel ratio, colour depth, time zone, languages, the number of processors, memory, the kind of computer and touch points. Never drawing tests, sound or graphics tests;
- the minutes you have used;
- whether you later made an account or signed in from the same browser, which links these records to your account.
If you say no to the free-minutes counter, nothing is kept on your device: your minutes are counted on our servers by the address your connection comes from instead.
We also note which reports were opened from each connection address each day, so that one address cannot open too many. Those notes are deleted after seven days.
If you have a free account
- Your first and last name and your email address, and your password, which is kept scrambled so nobody can read it, us included.
- What you told us when you signed up: who you are (a nursery, a group, an adviser, a local authority or something else), the nations you want, your nursery's name and registration number, your organisation, your local authorities, and how you heard about us.
- Which reports you open each day, because there is a safety limit on how many one person can open in a day.
- When you sign in and which pages you open while signed in, with your device, your connection's address and a rough place, so we can spot anybody using your account who should not be.
Everybody: how the pages are used
If you say yes to visit statistics, then for every visit, signed in or not, we count the pages opened, their titles, how long each was on screen, how quickly it loaded, and the labels of the buttons and links clicked (never anything you type). With that we keep the rough place, your kind of device and browser, and the website that sent you. When you are signed in this is linked to your account. Search engines' crawlers are left out.
What you choose to give us
- The nurseries, local authorities, inspectors and topics you watch, and how you want to hear about new reports.
- Your answers on the Planning call sheet, which can include the names of your staff, and the copies you ask us to email.
- What you tick and write in the Inspection toolkit, your Get started ticks, and the notices you have seen.
- Your Community posts, replies, photos, reactions and poll answers. Other people see your posts with your first name and local authority, or with no name when you post anonymously. Visitors without an account can read posts, but never replies.
- Anything you write to us.
Emails
We keep a record of each email we send you, and whether it was opened or a link in it was clicked. That is how we know alerts are reaching people.
The reports
Every report in Hubba Inspections is a published report from Ofsted or the Care Inspectorate, and the register of settings is the regulators' own. Some reports name the inspectors who wrote them. If you are an inspector, the Privacy notice for Ofsted inspectors at the foot of this page says what we hold about you and what you can ask for.
How long we keep it
| What | How long |
|---|---|
Your account and what you save to it | Until you delete your account |
Which reports you open each day (for the daily limit) | 90 days |
How many reports you opened on each day | 13 months |
Sign-ins and pages opened while signed in, with your device, connection address and rough place (for your security) | 13 months |
Records of using Hubba Inspections without an account | 13 months after your last visit |
The reports opened from each connection address without an account (for the daily ceiling) | 7 days |
Visit records (pages, time on each, clicks) | 13 months |
A postcode you type, and where it is | 30 days, not linked to you |
Records are deleted automatically every night once they reach these ages. You can still ask us to delete yours sooner at any time.
Why the law lets us
- To give you what you asked for. Your account, your alerts, your saved lists and your Community posts: we need them to run Hubba Inspections for you.
- Because you said yes. The free-minutes counter on your device and visit statistics. You can change your mind at any time from Cookie settings at the foot of the menu.
- Because we have a fair reason, which we have weighed against your privacy. Counting free minutes and stopping misuse, and keeping accounts safe. You can object to any of these: email us and we will stop unless the reason is strong enough to outweigh yours, such as keeping accounts safe.
- Because the information is published. The reports and the register are put out by the regulators for everybody to read, and showing them together is what Hubba Inspections is for.
Who else handles it
Only the companies we need to run Hubba Inspections, each for its own job. Some of them are based in the United States.
| Who | What for |
|---|---|
Vercel | Runs the website and the server, and works out a rough place from your connection's address. |
Supabase | Keeps the database and looks after signing in. |
Resend | Sends our emails. |
Anthropic | Reads the published reports to find the topics in them. Only the reports' own words are sent, never anything about you. |
postcodes.io | Finds where a postcode you type is. Our server asks, so it never sees you. |
OpenFreeMap | Sends your browser the pictures the map is drawn from, so it sees your connection's address, as any website does. |
jsDelivr | Sends your browser the emoji pictures in Community, so it sees your connection's address too. |
Cookies
Small files a website asks your browser to keep. Hubba Inspections uses these, and no advertising cookies. The first time you visit we ask whether you are happy with the two optional ones, the free-minutes counter and visit statistics, and neither is used until you say yes. Saying no is as easy as saying yes, and you can change your mind at any time from Cookie settings at the foot of the menu. The others are needed for Hubba Inspections to work.
| Name | What it is for | Who gets it | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
hubba_gid | Only if you say yes to the free-minutes counter: a random number that counts your free minutes when you use Hubba Inspections without an account. It never holds your name. Your browser's own scripts cannot read it. | Without an account | 400 days |
inspections-nation | Whether you are looking at England's reports or Scotland's. | Without an account, and Hubba's own staff | 12 hours |
inspections-guest-areas | The local authorities you chose without an account. | Without an account | 30 days |
sb-...-auth-token | Keeps you signed in. The name starts sb- and ends -auth-token, and a long one is split into parts ending .0, .1 and so on. | With an account | Until you sign out, and no more than 400 days |
hubba_ivid | Only if you say yes to visit statistics: a random number that tells one return visit from another, so we can see which pages are used and what is clicked. It never holds your name, and nothing is shared with anyone else. | Everybody | One year |
hubba_consent | Your cookie choice, so we do not ask again. It counts on Hubba's website too. | Everybody | 12 months |
hubba-side | Which part of Hubba you used last, when your nursery has more than one Hubba product. | Nursery accounts | One year |
On preview copies of Hubba that are not the live site, a few more cookies are used for testing. They are never set here.
Your browser's own storage
Hubba Inspections also keeps a few things in your browser itself. Most of them never leave it. When you have an account, your toolkit progress and Get started ticks are saved to your account too, so they follow you to another device.
| Name | What it is for | Where | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
hubba_gid | Only if you say yes to the free-minutes counter: a copy of the free-minutes number above, so the count carries on if the cookie is cleared. | Local storage | Until you clear it |
hubba_isid | Only if you say yes to visit statistics: the number of this visit. A new one starts after 30 minutes with nothing happening. | Local storage | Until you clear it |
hubba-inspections | A copy of the published reports, so the pages open at once. Nothing about you. | IndexedDB | Until you clear it |
insp-... | Your own choices on the pages: recent searches, the map's view, how lists are sorted, which reports you have looked at, the toolkit's examples and your toolkit progress, Get started's ticks, and which notices you have seen. | Local and session storage | Until you clear it, or the tab closes |
hubba.community.draft... | A Community post or reply you have started but not sent. | Local storage | Until you send it or clear it |
hubba.side, hubba-scroll, hubba-tour, hubba.inspections.reopened... | Whether the side menu is folded, where you had scrolled to, where you are in a guided tour, and a report you had open. | Local and session storage | Until you clear it, or the tab closes |
You can delete all of these at any time in your browser's settings. Without an account, clearing them does not give you more free minutes: the count is kept by us too.
Search engines
Hubba Inspections' public pages (the live feed, the reports, each nursery's page, the local authorities, the map and the toolkit) can be found through search engines such as Google and Bing. A report shows the names of the Ofsted inspectors who wrote it, as Ofsted publishes them, so those names can be found that way too. Your own pages, Community and the inspectors' own pages are never offered to them.
Your rights
- A copy. Ask for a copy of what we hold about you.
- Put it right. Ask us to correct anything that is wrong.
- Delete it. You can delete your free account yourself from Your account. Your Community posts and replies are removed with it. Where somebody else had replied, an empty post marked "Deleted account" stays in its place so their replies still make sense; it shows no name, picture or words. If you would like anything else deleted as well, such as the records from before you had an account, email us.
- Object or pause. Ask us to stop using it, or to hold it but not use it while something is sorted out.
- Take it with you. Ask for what you gave us in a file you can use elsewhere.
Email info@hubbatraining.com for any of these. We will answer within a month, and usually much sooner. It costs nothing.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK's data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk. We would like the chance to put it right first, so please tell us too.
Privacy notice for Ofsted inspectors
For Ofsted inspectors whose names appear in published reports. Last updated 17 October 2026.
Who we are
Hubba is operated by Hubba Training Limited, trading as Hubba Training. We provide online services for nurseries in England and Scotland.
We are the data controller for the inspector information described in this notice. This means we decide how and why it is used and are responsible for handling it in accordance with data protection law.
You can contact us about your information by emailing info@hubbatraining.com.
What information we hold
For the inspector directory, we hold your name as it appears in published Ofsted reports and associate it with the reports in which you are named.
The report information includes the nursery inspected, its local authority, inspection and publication dates, grades, safeguarding judgement, findings and next steps.
We also create factual summaries from those reports, as described below.
If you contact us, we also hold your email address, your correspondence and any limited information needed to confirm your identity or deal with your request. This correspondence is not displayed on your inspector page.
Where the information comes from
Our source for inspector names and inspection information is Ofsted's public reports website.
We do not supplement inspector records with information from social media, professional directories or other websites. Information you provide when contacting us comes directly from you.
Ofsted makes its website content available under the Open Government Licence, except where otherwise stated. That licence excludes personal data. We remain responsible for having a lawful basis for our use of the personal information contained in the reports.
How we use the information
Hubba uses this information to:
- Bring together published reports associated with an inspector's name.
- Show the number of reports available and the local authorities they cover.
- Summarise the grades, safeguarding judgements and topics recorded in those reports.
- Present figures for England alongside those summaries to provide context.
- Allow users to receive notifications when a new report naming an inspector is published.
These features help nursery managers and the professionals supporting them find relevant reports, understand published inspection findings and support their own preparation and improvement.
The reports available on Hubba may represent only part of an inspector's work. Differences between reports can reflect the settings inspected, their circumstances and the inspection framework in use.
How we present inspector information
The grades and judgements displayed are Ofsted's assessments of the nursery inspected.
Hubba does not give inspectors ratings, scores or rankings. Users cannot leave inspector reviews or comments.
We do not add photographs, personal contact details, employment histories or inspector identification numbers to inspector pages.
We do not use artificial intelligence to describe or assess individual inspectors. We do not use this information to make solely automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.
This feature applies to Ofsted reports in England. We do not create inspector profiles for Scottish inspection reports.
Our lawful basis
We rely on legitimate interests under Article 6(1)(f) of the UK GDPR.
Our interests are to organise published inspection information accurately and help nursery managers find and understand reports that support their preparation and improvement.
We have documented our assessment of why this use is necessary, how it may affect inspectors and the safeguards we apply. You can request a copy of this assessment by emailing us.
Where we handle requests under data protection law, we also use information as necessary to meet our legal obligations. We rely on our legitimate interests to handle general enquiries and, where an objection is upheld, to keep the limited private record needed to keep a name hidden.
Who can access the information?
Inspector information is available to people using Hubba Inspections, including nursery managers, professionals who support them and visitors trying it for a short time before creating a free account. Inspector pages are not made available for search engines to index. Report pages, which show inspectors' names as Ofsted published them, can be found through search engines such as Google and Bing, as Ofsted's own report pages can.
Information may also be accessed by authorised Hubba staff and contracted service providers where needed to host, store or support the service and handle correspondence.
Request correspondence and private removal records are not visible to Hubba users.
We do not sell inspector information as a separate dataset or supply inspector mailing lists.
How long we keep information
If an objection is upheld, we apply the changes described below.
Where a name is removed, we keep a limited private record so that it is not displayed again when reports are added or updated. We retain this record for as long as it is needed for that.
Corrections, objections and removal
The information on inspector pages comes strictly from Ofsted's published reports. It is a matter of public record, and none of it is Hubba's opinion or anybody else's.
If something on Hubba does not match the published report, email info@hubbatraining.com and we will check it against the report and correct it. Please include your name as it appears in an Ofsted report and, if possible, a link to the relevant report or Hubba page.
Because your name is published by Ofsted on its own reports, we do not remove inspector pages simply on request. Whether inspectors are named in published reports is decided by Ofsted. If you would rather not be named, please raise this with Ofsted. In Scotland, the Care Inspectorate does not name inspectors in its reports, and Hubba shows no inspector names there.
You have the right to object to our use of your information at any time. To object, email info@hubbatraining.com and tell us your reasons. You do not need to complete a form or use any particular wording. We consider every objection individually, weigh it against our reasons for showing the information, and tell you our decision and the reasons for it within one calendar month.
If we need to confirm your identity, we will ask only for the information reasonably necessary to do so.
Where an objection is upheld, we:
- Remove your name from the inspector directory.
- Take down your inspector page.
- Replace your name in the report information displayed on Hubba with "an Ofsted inspector".
- Keep a limited private record to prevent your name from being displayed again when new reports are added.
These changes apply to Hubba's use and display of the information. We cannot change reports published on Ofsted's own website.
Your other data protection rights
Depending on the circumstances, you can also ask us to:
- Provide a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
- Erase your personal information.
- Restrict how we use your information while a concern is being considered.
We handle requests free of charge and normally respond within one calendar month. If a request is complex and the law allows additional time, we will explain the reason and the revised response deadline within the initial month.
If you have a concern
Please email info@hubbatraining.com if you have a concern about how we use your information or handle a request.
You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK's data protection regulator.
